How do I configure my Email in Focus account to retrieve my mail at my existing email address?
You will need to enter your existing mail server information into the Email in Focus configuration screen. The information you will need is:
- Your current ISP's mail server (usually mail.yourisp.com)
- Your username (usually the part before the @, such as yourusername@yourisp.com
- Your password (POP email address password)
That is all you will need. If you're having trouble locating your existing email server information, there are easy-to-use manuals in the Members Area.. Back to top

I set up my email program correctly but I can't receive any email!
This problem usually indicates that you have configured Email in Focus incorrectly. The first thing to check is your pending and approved list. If there are no email addresses on those lists, one of two things is happening... 1) no one is sending you any email or 2) Email in Focus is having difficulty collecting your mail from your email box.
In the case of #2, verify your settings on the Configuration screen with those provided by your ISP. If you are having difficulty locating the correct settings, please contact your ISP or check the manuals in the members area for help. Back to top
I can see email addresses on my Pending and Approved lists but I'm not getting any email to my computer!
This is most likely a configuration error within your email program (Outlook, Express, Eudora, etc). This problem usually indicates that you have correctly set up Email in Focus to collect your email from your email address, but you have failed to correctly configure your email program to collect your mail from Email in Focus. How do I receive email from automated senders like eBay or other eCommerce sites?
If you are expecting a message from a list server or an eCommerce site such as eBay, you can check your pending list in the Members' configuration screen and simply move that email address to your Approved List once it arrives. Back to top
Spam is still periodically getting through!
There are a number of methods that spammers will try to use to get through your Email in Focus protection. The most common method is to send you an email that has your own email address as the "FROM" address. You can stop this by adding your own email address to the "Rejected" list. After doing this, you will no longer be able to send yourself emails (were you doing that anyway?)
On very rare occasions, some spammers will actually take the time to Authenticate themselves. If this happens, all you need to do is simply move their email address from your Approved list to your Rejected list. Or alternatively, block their email address in your own email program (spammers who use legitimate addresses are easy to block this way).
If you believe a piece of spam has truly fooled our system, we definitely want to know about it. Please forward the message to us immediately! Back to top
How long does it take before someone receives an authentication request?
Authentication Requests are sent out immediately when Email in Focus detects a sender that is not on your Approved list. So at the most, it should take 2-3 minutes before someone receives an Authentication Request.
If for some reason your friend does not receive the authentication request, you can easily add them to your Approved List manually. Back to top
After someone sends me an email, how long should it take for me to receive it?
Email in Focus will check your email account at least once every two to three minutes for new mail. So at the most, your email should only be delayed by a maximum of three minutes providing that the sender is on your Approved List.
The only exception to this, is if you get more than 25 messages in any 3-minute window. Email in Focus will download up to 25 messages per connection to your email box. If you have more than 25 messages in your email box, they will be continue being downloaded every 2-3 minutes until they have all been retrieved.
Please contact our technical support department from the members area to let us know if you believe your messages are taking longer than this. Back to top
Why do I still get pop-up advertisements?
Email in Focus offers a service that stops unsolicited email. We do not attempt to stop pop-up advertisements. However, if you are receiving a strangely high number of pop-up ads, there is a good chance your computer is infected with spy-ware. We highly recommend the use of a free program called Ad-Aware to remove the non-email advertisements and tune up your computer. Back to top
